Anthony Murphy is the Vice President of Sales of Offix’s new facility in Richmond, Virginia. His role there is also to be both the Sales and the Service Managers. As Sales Manager, he guides four sales representatives. As Service Manager, he instructs and assists six technicians.
When recounting his start at Offix, Anthony commented, “Steve Valenta and I grew up together, and we also worked together 25 years ago as technicians, before we both went into sales. Steve approached me about starting and running the Richmond office. He knew that I had been in this line of business about as long as he had. I did the same thing he did as a service technician, and also had worked my way up into sales, which I have been in it for the last 14 years. He offered me the opportunity of a lifetime to do something that I have always wanted to do—get into management and use my ability and experience to really help other people.“
“I bring my people skills to Offix. I like people, and I like meeting new people. I like being able to do what a customer has been promised. And that is something that I have always been able to do. I’ve been very good at retaining customers because my customers are my number-one priority. So my biggest skills are my people skills,” Anthony candidly confides.
Another skill that Anthony brings to Offix is his teaching talent. He has always liked to take the lead in trying to do the right thing. “Everything I do, whether it is in my personal life or in my career, I try to contribute and to help people grow through what I can teach them. For instance, I’m president of my homeowner’s association and I coach a basketball team. I like teaching and I like directing in a good way, trying to show people the many facets of what they are learning.“
Anthony brings over 25 years of experience to Offix. He states, “I’ve seen so many different movements in this field. This is the field I’ve been in since I left school. With my experience, whether it is having the knowledge about a certain device or having the know-how to save a company money and make it more productive, I bring these skills to Offix customers. My goals are to treat my customers with respect and with honesty. I sell solutions, not just equipment. I want to know what problems are causing a company pain, and I want to fix them.”
The best part of working at Offix is that he is working with Steve and Kim Valenta, both of whom have a real passion about their customers’ well-being. Anthony, having gone from working with a national company to a local owner, really gets to see the owner’s enthusiasm on a daily basis, stating ”I have always felt that way about customer service, too. Unfortunately, in my previous employment, I didn’t feel like I was working for customers, but felt like I was working for stockholders. Now I’m working for customers, and I see the same thing with Steve and Kim.”
Like other Offix employees, Anthony tells us that he truly enjoys working there because he is treated like a member of the family. And he adds, “It is that same caring attitude that draws new employees and investors to Offix. One word can describe it: passion. “All they have to do is see the passion that we have for providing good service to our customers, and they will look no further.“
